Library of Congress Closed Under Coronavirus Concerns

With public health safety concerns over Coronavirus, the Library of Congress announced it will be closed from Friday, March 13th through April 1st. Many state and local libraries have followed suit.

As you know, these repositories contain resources that may be used for environmental reviews. In order to mitigate the risk of government agency shutdowns, LightBox has invested significantly in multiple sources of city directory information – called the “City Directory Super Library” – to provide you the most complete coverage when you need it, even during government shutdowns. This includes:

  • Haines and Stewart collections
  • Agreements with Polk, Bresser’s and Cole directories
  • Billions of scanned digitized records from public sources

With this extensive repository of digitized historical information, we anticipate no impact to quality or turnaround time.

Public health and safety are paramount. We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any changes that may impact the ability to acquire environmental information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your EDR/LightBox representative.

Thank you,

Your EDR/LightBox Team
